Willard E. Glasgow, age 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday evening, October 26, 2025, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
He was born April 27, 1947, in Coyville, Kansas, the son of Luther and Vada (Parker) Glasgow. As a young boy, Willard attended grade school in Coyville and later graduated from Fredonia High School. Following graduation, he attended Independence Community College before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force for several years.
After proudly serving in the military, Willard returned to Independence Community College, where he earned his Associate's Degree. A longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, Willard dedicated two decades of service as the assistant manager of the Rural Electric Cooperative. He later moved to Meade, Kansas, where he spent many years as a trusted and skilled general contractor. Willard and June made their home in Hillsboro, Kansas, for a few years, but ultimately chose to return to Meade, where they have resided since.
In Fredonia, Willard also helped his dad with the family farm. Willard and June were passionate about giving back to their community, starting a program called Teen Town, which provided local teenagers with a positive and safe place to gather on the weekends following home games. Willard dedicated many years as a Boy Scout Master, helping to shape the lives of countless young men.
While living in Meade, Willard attended the Emmanuel Mennonite Church and was a proud member of the American Legion. His commitment to his community extended to serving on the Meade City Council and volunteering at the Meade County Historical Society. In recent years, Willard enjoyed working as a substitute teacher and bus driver for USD 226, where his presence was appreciated by both students and faculty.
In his free time, Willard was a passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and working with cattle when he was able. He had a deep love for reading and history, and above all, treasured time spent with family and friends.
On April 26, 1975, he married June Turner at Fredonia, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Stacy Glasgow and wife Rose of Berthoud, Colorado; Russell Glasgow and wife Cherie of Seneca, Kansas; and Dawn Unruh and husband Kory of Meade, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Tena Wright of Fredonia, Kansas; a sister, Margaret Ellen McGee and husband Vernon of Chanute, Kansas; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Gary Glasgow.
