MEADE - Stephen Scott Moore, age 63, passed away early Thursday morning, August 7, 2025, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

He was born August 12, 1961, at Alamosa, Colorado, the son of Richard and Dorothea (Dottie) Moore.  As a young boy he attended several grade schools before moving to Fowler, Kansas, graduating from Fowler High School in 1981.  After his graduation, he attended Garden City Community College.  In 1987, he began working maintenance for National Beef in Liberal, Kansas.

He is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.  He enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time with his family and friends.

On May 6, 2000, he married Joyce Wehmeier at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade.  She survives.

Other survivors include, a son, Matthew Moore of Scott City, Kansas; a daughter, Elizabeth Smith-Moore of Hays, Kansas; two stepdaughters, Christina Serna of Liberal, Kansas, and Amber McDaniel of Centralia, Illinois; a sister, Sarah Keger and husband Scott of Jetmore, Kansas; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

In accordance to his request, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of his life will be held at the Meade City Park at 11:00 a.m. Satruday, September 20, 2025.  Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, has been entrusted with arrangements.
