Obituary

FOWLER – Ronald John (Radar) Beckerman, age 65, passed away late Friday evening, December 14, 2018, at the Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City, Kansas.

He was born November 15, 1953, at Fowler, Kansas, the son of John and Evelyn (Heinz) Beckerman (both deceased). As a young boy he attended the St. Anthony's Parochial School and later graduated from Fowler High School in 1971.  He attended tech school in Denver, Colorado, receiving his training in heating and air conditioning repair and installation.   On August 25, 1973, he married Barbara Wenta at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fowler. They then moved to Ulysses, Kansas, where he worked for Ross of Ulysses for several years. In 1985 he returned to Fowler, KS to help his dad farm, and started the local business Beckerman & Heinz Heating and Cooling with his partner Doug Heinz.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, served on the Fowler City Council, was a volunteer fireman while in Ulysses, and was a gunfighter for Boot Hill Museum in Dodge City.  He enjoyed hunting, farming, attending muscle car shows, telling stories, his career in heating and air conditioning, and sharing laughs with his family and friends.

Survivors include: his wife Barbara, his daughters, Roxanne (Quincy) Jones and Nicole Beckerman, both of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Tim (Cindy) Beckerman of Inman, Kansas; and two sisters, Denise Staiger and Mary Kay (Craig) Lungwitz both of Wichita, Kansas.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Rosary vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018, and Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday both at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fowler.    Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
