FOWLER - Marie P. Huslig, died early Thursday, December 3, 2009, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas, at the age of 97.

She was born December 19, 1911, at Odin, Kansas, the daughter of Frank J. and Anna (Demel) Huslig. She moved to Fowler in 1918 with her family.

Marie was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Altar Society, and the Daughters of Isabella. Marie's faith in God was the most important aspect of her life. She devoted her life to the service of God and church. Marie served her church as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Sacriston. She devoted her life to assist the clergy. She was a house keeper for her brother, Father Frank Huslig from his ordination until his death in 1961. After that she worked for Msgr Zennor and Father Potoroff until her retirement.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Anna Hageman; and four brothers, August, Oswald, Father Frank, and Louis Huslig.

Survivors are a sister-in-law, Esther Huslig; seven nieces and one nephew.

Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Fowler. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the church with Father Jimmy Barrozo presiding. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.

The family would welcome memorials to the Fowler Nursing Home or St. Anthony Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
