MEADE – Laura D. Looney, age 48, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 30, 2017, at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

She was born September 16, 1968, at Frankfort, Germany, the daughter of John and Leota (McClure) Gilcrease. As a young girl, she attended the Lampasas, Texas, school system graduating form Lampasas High School in 1987. A longtime resident of Meade, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade, and enjoyed being a mother, playing Pogo, helping people, watching old television shows, and listening to country music.

On January 13, 2006, she married Bruce Looney at Meade. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Dustin Terry of Liberal, Kansas; a daughter, Leah Looney of Meade; her father and stepmother, John and Chris Gilcrease; a brother, John Gilcrease and wife Jerri of Garden City, Kansas; and two sisters, Barbara Smith of Plains, Kansas, and Anita Casaus of Roswell, New Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her mother Leota.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church. Cremation has taken place.

The family would welcome memorials to the Leah Looney Education Fund in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
