LIBERAL – Jose Luis Tijerina, age 60, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 22, 2020, at the Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, Kansas.

He was born September 12, 1960, at Anahuach, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Juan Tijerian Vaquera and Maria de Jesus de la Pena. As a young boy he attended school in Anahuach. A resident of Liberal for nine years, he was a general laborer and contractor.

He enjoyed shopping, music, singing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.

In 1980, he married Silvia Gutierrez at Anahuach, Chihuahua, Mexico. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Myrza Arianne Tijerina of Mission, Texas, Arturo Tijerina of San Juan, Texas, and Jose Luis Tijerina of San Juan, Texas; eight sisters, Teresa Regaldo, Margarita Frescas, Ramona Portillo, Veronica Rojo, Leticia Tijerina, Rosa Maria Aguilar, Patricia Rivas, and Imelda Madrid; and six grandchildren, Gavin Tijerina, Donnavin Tijerina, Deeahna Tijerina, Jazmin Garza, Iceis Garza, and Jayden Garza.

Cremation has taken place and family services will be held at a later date. Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas, is in charge of arrangements.
