MEADE - John F. Loewen, age 94, passed away Thursday morning, September 24, 2020, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas

He was born February 8, 1926, at rural Meade, Kansas, the son of Jacob E. and Lena F. (Friesen) Loewen. As a young boy he attended the Sunrise Elementary School in rural Meade County, Kansas. After his schooling, he began his career in farming. In addition to farming, he worked as a truck driver for Becker Transport for many years.

He is a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, and had served in many roles, including, a Sunday school teacher, Superintendent, on the church board of directors, as a Deacon, and on the church council. He enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.

He married Margaret Reimer at Meade, Kansas. She precedes him in death on August 28, 1957. On June 6, 1958, he married Elizabeth RC Classen at Meade, Kansas. She precedes him in death on March 17, 1989. On May 26, 1990, he married Ruth D. Regier at Meade, Kansas. She precedes him in death on December 6, 2018.

He is survived by three daughters, Rosina Fast and husband Cliff of York, Nebraska, Eileen Collins and husband JR of Dodge City, Kansas, and Stella Brown and husband Joe of Tallahassee, Florida; a stepson Jim Isaac and wife Carol of Omaha, Nebraska; three stepdaughters, Carla Stucky and husband Lynn of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Valerie Badgett and husband Ross of Palestine, Texas, and Janice Camera and husband Tony of Amherst, Ohio; two daughter-in-laws, Jeanette Loewen of Dodge City, Kansas, and Cindy Heady of Kansas City, Kansas; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by wives, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Ruth; two sons, Dwight Loewen and Gordon Loewen; his parents, Jacob and Lena Loewen; a brother, Henry F. (Lena) Loewen; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Will) Classen and Bertha (George) Classen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade.
