PLAINS – Hubert James Bond was born September 21, 1931, and departed this life January 23, 2023, at the age of 91.

Hubert was the son of Alvin and Mildred Bond. He grew up on the Bond Farm south of Plains with his older sister Maxine and two younger brothers Harvey and Roger. The family was active at West Glendale Friends Church. Hubert attended school in Plains, graduating from Plains High School in 1949. He continued his education at Friends University.

Hubert's interests were farming with his dad and another local farmer. He also had a herd of shorthorn cattle, which he enjoyed. Another interest was reading.   He had an amazing collection of beautiful books of nature and Bible history.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mildred Bond; his sister, Maxine and her husband Edmund Lamb; and his brother, Roger. He is survived by a brother, Harvey and wife Jo; and a sister-in-law Carolyn Bond; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Friends may call form 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery, Plains.

The family would welcome memorials to the Plains Friends Church in care of the funeral home.
