MEADE – Garold D. "Gary" Moore, age 82, died August 29, 2008 at his Meade residence.

He was born May 15, 1926, at Manhattan , Kansas , the son of Julius and Eva M. (Williams) Moore. As a young boy he attended school in Beatrice before moving to Manhattan , Kansas , later graduating from Manhattan High School . He later joined the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict as a communications specialist.

In March 1968, he moved to Meade , Kansas , from Garden City, working for Wilbert Vault Company as the Meade Warehouse Manager.

He was a member of the American Legion of Manhattan. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, archery, and had a found passion for Kansas State football.

He married Dona-Rose Hewes. The couple later divorced. On December 31, 1959, he married Mary Jane Eastman at Manhattan , Kansas . She precedes him in death on March 22, 2006.

He is survived by:

Four sons, Michael Dean Moore of Manhattan , Kansas

Lonny Moore of Oak Hill , Kansas

Raymond Moore and wife, Kat of Denver, Colorado
Christopher "Chris" Moore and wife, Sherri of Rhinelander, Wisconsin



A daughter, Pam Johnson and husband, Randy of Liberal, Kansas



A brother, Paul Moore of Manhattan , Kansas



Twelve grandchildren Three great-grandchildren



He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane; parents; a brother, Julius Moore; and a sister, Juanita Hardwick.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel, Meade. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Cemetery , Manhattan , at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008.

The family would welcome memorials to the Meade District Hospital or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
