PLAINS – Amanda R. Wurtz, age 41, passed away late Sunday evening, May 15, 2022, in rural Finney County, Kansas, as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born November 7, 1980, at St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Gerald Keeven and Robyn (Kaiser) Keeven.  As a young girl she attended school at Westminister Christian Academy and Francis Howell High School.  She later furthered her education by attending McKendree University.  A resident of Plains since 2015, she was the manager of the Grand Avenue Market in Plains.

Amanda's biggest joy in life was being with her children, Parker and Alaina, and cheering them on in all that they did. She enjoyed spending time with her family, the St. Louis Cardinals, attending baseball and football games, crafts, handiwork, traveling to the beach, and being an active member of the community.

On September 1, 2001, she married Jason Wurtz at Outer Banks, North Carolina.  After several years of marriage, the couple divorced but remained close friends.

She is survived by her children, Parker Jay Wurtz and Alania Jay Wurtz, both of Plains, Kansas; her mother, Robyn Reynolds of O'Fallon, Missouri; a brother, Andrew Keeven and wife Mariana of St. Peters, Missouri; and a sister, Amiee Zecher and husband Matt of St. Peters, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her father and stepfather.

There will be no public viewing, as cremation has taken place.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas, has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial education fund for her children has been established at the Plains State Bank.  Cash or checks made out to the Amanda Wurtz Memorial Fund can be physically dropped off at the bank or mailed.
