MEADE – Alberta Elizabeth "Bert" Alley, age 93, died Tuesday morning, November 27, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

She was born February 4, 1914, at Rush Center, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Mary (Brendt) Moore. She received her schooling in Rush County, graduating from LaCrosse High School. She later taught school for two years south of Nekoma, Kansas.

On March 6, 1938, she married Fred Alley, at Milford, Oklahoma. He died March 9, 1996, after 58 years of marriage.

She was a beautician for 47 years, owning and operating Berts Beauty Shop in Meade.

Her two deeply appreciated and much loved caretakers were Coni Alley, a granddaughter, and a sister Shirley Nuss. They did so much for her after her stroke on January 19, 1996. They survive.

Other survivors include her beloved son, Cliff Alley and wife, Linda, of Meade; three additional granddaughters, Dawn Ross of Meade, Lorie Williams of Minneola, Kansas, and Ronda Druell of Great Falls, Montana; two grandsons, Danny Day of Wichita, Kansas, and Dave Day of Lyons, Kansas; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel, Meade, with the Reverend Ron Willard presiding. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Beam Senior Center in care of the mortuary.
